How to make homemade pizza dough

Toujours Mikes

Let's face it, there's no single way to make pizza dough. There are probably as many as there are people on Earth. Despite this, all the recipes are more or less the same. And although we like to keep our recipes secret, today we offer you a small culinary workshop. So take out your food processor, flour and baking powder, because we are going to learn how to make homemade pizza dough (almost) as good as ours. To your apron!

Make way for our homemade pizza dough ingredients

Before we learn how to make homemade pizza dough, let's get all our ingredients together. To prepare our recipe, which will give us about three 1 lb balls of dough, we will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of salt

Once we have everything in hand, we can start our preparation immediately, since the guests are coming and they are hungry!

Let's get ready!

Mix the warm water, sugar and yeast in a bowl. When this is done, let the mixture stand until the it starts to foam on top, about 5 to 10 minutes, then add the vegetable oil.

Mix the flour and salt in a food processor equipped with a plastic blade or kneading hook. Add the yeast mixture on medium speed until a nice ball forms.

Then take another bowl, add a little oil and place a lightly oiled pizza ball into it. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean damp cloth and let the dough rise at room temperature until it doubles in volume (about 1 hour). After this short waiting period, take the ball out and cut it into 3 equal portions.

That's it, your pizza dough is (finally) ready.

Enjoy the best pizza in town

At this point, if you want to make a delicious pizza with the beautiful dough you just made, sprinkle a worktop with flour, spread out your dough and add the sauce, filling and cheese of your choice before baking at 500°F for about 15 minutes, turning it halfway through the cooking time.
